Signs of Suicide (SOS) Curriculum
MMS is participating in the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program® (SOS Program). The program teaches students that suicide is often a fatal response to a treatable mental health disorder, depression. We will be encouraging all students to seek help from trusted adults whether they have concerns about themselves or a friend using the ACT® message. See the district letter to parents here.
The SOS program is taught in our Health & Fitness classes (P.E.) at Meadowdale Middle School. To learn more about the SOS program parents are able to login to a parent portal and view the curriculum information, watch a video, get resources regarding suicide and depression, learn how to help talk to their child, or even take a survey to screen for signs of suicide\depression in their own child.
